Katie McElveen got her start as a travel writer reporting on what to see and do in the small towns of her home state of South Carolina. Since then, she has slurped eels in Chile, donned a dry suit for ice diving in France, crushed grapes with her feet in Portugal and crash-landed a hang glider in a cow pasture in Peru.
