To honor the inaugural 1966 Ford Bronco, Ford is introducing a limited production of Heritage models for 2023-2024. This exclusive launch aims to excite buyers looking for a future collector's piece.
Only 3,932 units will be produced, with 1,966 two-door models and the rest four-door. Ford dealerships will get just a few units each for sale. I was fortunate to get to test drive two of the nine 2023 Ford Bronco trims— the Sport Heritage Limited and the 4-door Advanced Heritage Limited.
Price point
Kelly Blue Book projected Broncos to retain 65% of their value after five years in 2023, ranking fourth in resale value. The limited production of Bronco Heritage Limited models is expected to drive higher resale values. Early Heritage model orders benefit from Ford's price protection policies.
2023 Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Limited base MSRP: $44,655, with additional customization options available.
2023 Ford Bronco Advanced Heritage Limited base MSRP: $70,485, with extra customization options available.
Key standout features
The legacy design is truly impressive, boasting a near-identical interior and exterior. The retrofit seamlessly integrated modern safety features, ensuring excellent performance both on and off the road.
The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Limited impresses with its blend of classic and modern styling. It offers distinct paint options like Robin's Egg Blue, Peak Blue or Yellowstone, with an Oxford white roof for a retro touch. On the inside, enjoy luxurious coffee-colored Norias leather-trimmed seats. The 4-door base models feature a powerful 2.0L EcoBoost engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth handling.
The 2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Advanced Limited I drove flaunted a classic box-like body in Robin’s Egg Blue with an Oxford white roof and black roof rails. Its rear panel had a white surround, while the white grille added elegance. The unique “Dog’s Dish"-style aluminum wheels with white rims and robust 35-inch Goodyear Territory tires are ready for any off-road challenge. The Bronco features a powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The "Sasquatch" package comes standard, upgrading off-roading equipment. Currently, the Heritage Limited Advanced Edition is only available in Robin’s Egg Blue.
Safety features
Bronco Heritage Limited models have achieved top crash safety ratings and come equipped with standard industry driver safety features. These include speed sign recognition and dynamic cruise control for highway driving, as well as a limited-slip differential for off-road adventures. Additionally, Ford's innovative SecuriCode lock is conveniently located on the driver's door.
Car options
Ford offers over 100 customizations for your ultimate outdoor adventure vehicle. During test drives, the ride remained smooth, with nimble handling and manual paddles for quick power boosts. Off-road performance was impressive, thanks to Ford's HOSS system with enhancements like raised coil springs and 8.8-inch ground clearance. The Bronco's G.O.A.T. system features five off-road modes alongside Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Sand modes, with underbody skid plates. The automatic stop/start feature, while a bit clunky, can be disabled.
Inside, the iconic bucking bronco logos decorate the seats and steering wheel, evoking nostalgia. The extendable visors provide extra sun protection, and the seats are notably comfortable. Ford's Sync3 system runs a 12-inch touchscreen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with a handy wireless charging pad. Storage options include zip-up pouches and nets on the back of the front seats.
The cabin has a raised roof for ample headroom in the second row, with rubber coverings protecting the cargo floor and seatbacks. Interior storage includes under-seat compartments. Noteworthy features are Ford Co-Pilot 360, FordPass Connect, a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, 60/40 rear seat fold-down, a 6.5-inch digital gauge display, rear seat departure warning, and an illuminated lift-gate. A spare tire is provided for peace of mind.
