1. Udderly Caffeinated, New Salem

This local favorite has an impressive array of syrups, so chances are you can find the flavor you want to add to your coffee drink, including salted caramel, Irish cream, brown-sugar cinnamon and peanut butter, just to name a few. You can sip a cold brew, a latte, a macchiato, a Moo’cha or another of the shop’s coffee drinks, with a shot of the flavor of your choice. Patrons love the fresh breakfasts, grab-and-go lunches and homemade treats.

2. Thunder Coffee, West Fargo

Launched in 2017 by two brothers and the wife of one of the brothers, Thunder Coffee began with just a cart that served coffee at area events. But by 2019, the company had its first brick-and-mortar café in West Fargo. The coffeehouse uses single-origin beans from farmers they know and trust around the world.

Enjoy a latte featuring house-made brown-sugar vanilla syrup or a cold brew with a bright lemon finish in this welcoming, industrial chic interior. Both the West Fargo flagship and its sister store inside Fargo’s Brewhalla food hall are community gathering places. The team at this coffeehouse firmly believes that a great cup of coffee and a conversation with a friend can set your day in a positive direction.

3. The Urban Stampede, Grand Forks

One of the oldest coffee shops in North Dakota, The Urban Stampede takes pride in its welcoming atmosphere. This historical corner building is a magnet for creatives. The shop sells coffee made from high-quality, ethically sourced beans.

Sip a smooth nitro latte, a noncaffeinated milkshake made with Pride Dairy ice cream, or a fruit-filled smoothie while you enjoy the light-drenched, art-filled atmosphere. The coffee shop also partners with local businesses—including Bagels by Domnika, Dakota Don’s Artisan Waffles and Sandy’s Doughnuts—to provide delicious food options to nosh on.
