Shoppers mingle among holiday decorations at West Acres

West Acres, Fargo
This property is more than a shopping center—it’s a creative hot spot. Choirs and bands play among gasp-inducing seasonal art and floral installations that hang from the ceiling and sprout from the seating areas. Creative types come for make-and-take craft sessions, painting classes and art exhibits. Choose from hundreds of locally made creations at Minn-Dak Market, Aptitude Creative Arts Studios and a vending machine. Many of the paintings and sculptures that decorate the space are for sale, too.

Downtown Minot
Shoppers stroll through this charming downtown district to shop for semiprecious jewelry from Michele F, compelling books and toys at Main Street Books, and unique gifts from more than 50 local makers and pickers at The Foundry. Give (or take) a wine-making class at Urban Winery, a cooking skills refresher at Gourmet Chef, or gift a few rounds of blacklight miniature golf at The Putt District. Create birds, mandalas and ornaments out of stained glass at Margie’s Art Glass Studio, or try an escape room challenge at Escape Point.

Kirkwood Mall, Bismarck
This Bismarck mainstay is anchored by Scheels, H&M, Barnes & Noble, and Target. But locally owned shops (including women’s fashion from Out of Town and new and vintage Western wear at Twisted B Clothing) provide a distinctly regional flavor. Take a break from the hustle and bustle with a soothing foot massage at Asian Health Bodywork Spa; schedule a facial, brow or lash treatment at Face Foundrié; or treat yourself to chocolates, caramels or taffy from Northwoods Candy Emporium.
