The idea that balance creates comfort is evident throughout the west-suburban BLVD Kitchen & Bar, from the hospitality group behind Twin Cities hits like Crave, Union Rooftop and Brit’s Pub.

The AAA Three Diamond eatery is fancy enough to impress a date or client, yet casual enough to relax into a family dinner or drawn-out brunch. The modern, airy design has a venerable feel, thanks to exposed brick and reclaimed wood. An open-concept kitchen behind a massive square bar offers a menu full of from-scratch globally influenced American classics (above).

Asian sticky ribs, carnitas and paella share the menu with a variety of burgers (wagyu, salmon, turkey, plant-based); sandwiches; and salads, from chopped to Caesar to beet.

Keep in mind that flatbreads are the thing here, topped with inventive and classic pairings, such as pepperoni and sausage or prosciutto and pear. They’re great for sharing.

The brunch menu, too, draws influence from all over: chilaquiles, crab cake Benedict, steak and tater tot hash, and buttermilk pancakes with strawberry cheesecake topping. Libations include a BLVD Signature Bloody Mary—the classic Minnesota kind featuring cheese, salami, shrimp and other skewered edible garnishes plus an optional beer back or refreshing mocktail.

It’s an especially leisurely experience on a sunny day, when the restaurant throws open floor-to-ceiling doors to the patio, edged in bushes and dotted with umbrellas and shade trees. There’s also a comfortable private patio (above) off the private dining room.

Keep it in mind for when spring finally arrives in Minnesota.

AAA Inspector Notes:

“The vibe is upbeat at this trendy restaurant. Professional servers hustle about providing friendly and attentive care. A huge bar and open kitchen complement the airy dining spaces. Tasty burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, steak and entrées are served nice and hot. Recipes incorporate local and organic ingredients. Desserts are of sharing size.”
