At the AAA Four Diamond Miami Beach EDITION (above), guests will enjoy an oceanfront escape like no other in Florida. This mid-beach hotel—a collaboration between well-known hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriott—is steeped in a legacy of luxury that dates back more than six decades. The EDITION’s historical building was the home of the famed Seville Hotel, a 1950s-era architectural wonder known for its on-site nightclubs and large guest rooms. The Seville also hosted a steady stream of Hollywood stars at a time when the likes of Joan Crawford, Jackie Gleason and the Rat Pack were in demand.

Today, from its prime perch at 2901 Collins Avenue, in the heart of the Miami Beach arts, dining and shopping scene, the EDITION has managed to capture the essence of that magnificent heyday. With a nod to the past, the EDITION also retained some of the Seville’s most iconic features, including a circular dining room, a fin-shaped diving board and the glowing red clock built onto the hotel’s façade, which is said to be visible from far offshore. The result is a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel expertly blending old Florida glamour with modern 21st-century comforts and conveniences. Its 294 individually designed guest rooms and suites—including 28 oceanfront bungalows, some of which feature terraces, sundecks and private plunge pools—are sunlit and spacious. Units are appointed with soft neutrals, large desks, mini-bars, marble bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows offering city, pool and ocean views.

Equally appealing are the EDITION’s unique dining options, particularly the Matador Room, which sports a 1940s supper club vibe and distinctive menu developed by Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten that blends the flavors of South America, the Caribbean and Spain. For guests looking to relax in luxury, there are two oceanside pools as well as a full-service spa and fitness center. Prefer to cut loose in a different way? Enjoy EDITION’s Basement Bowl & Skate, which features a four-lane bowling alley (above) and a 2,000-square-foot ice skating rink, both of which feature dazzling lighting displays, a fully stocked bar and gourmet bites.

AAA Inspector Notes:

“Designed in partnership with famed hotelier and Studio 54 co-owner Ian Schrager, this iconic hotel is popular for its bright, airy hotel rooms and the myriad activities available on property. The Sandbox is a popular oasis with hammocks and day beds in a romantically secluded tropical alcove. The restaurants are all under the guidance of famed celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The historic, oval-shaped Matador Room has an elegant bull-fighting theme resonating throughout. For those seeking the ultimate in luxury, stay in one of the rooftop bungalows which has its own private plunge pool.”
