Nestled halfway between Detroit and Chicago, Coldwater Country beckons as a premier destination for a charming getaway. Also known as Branch County, this scenic region boasts a harmonious blend of idyllic lakes, storied historical districts, rolling golf courses and an array of family-friendly attractions.

Coldwater Country’s hometown feel is only amplified by a visit to the Capri Drive-In. Marking its 60th anniversary in 2024, this cherished theater boasts two screens and a well-stocked snack bar. Owned and operated by a local family, this drive-in, nestled along US-12, holds legendary status in the Coldwater community, providing the perfect setting for a nostalgic summer evening under the stars.

For wholesome, family-friendly adventures, visitors can check out the Little River Railroad. Dedicated to the restoration and operation of historic railroad equipment, the railroad is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Their round-trip train rides depart from Coldwater and turn back in Quincy, letting passengers enjoy the look and feel of a true, historical locomotive experience.

History buffs can delight in the area's unique background with the help of the Branch County Historical Society. Several homes in the area, like the Wing Museum, have preserved a glimpse into architecture of the past. The Wing Museum was built by the Chandler family in 1875 and was later purchased by the Wing family. Tours of the home are available and allow the public to explore the deep roots of these families. 

Coldwater Country is also offers plenty of shopping and dining attractions. The area is home to local antique shops like the Allen Antique Mall, as well as popular farmer’s markets selling locally grown produce. Eating out is easy in Coldwater Country, with local favorites like Bent Prop Pub and the Goodie Shop serving up delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. 

A relaxing weekend on the water is well within reach in Branch County, with over 100 lakes in the area. Fishing, kayaking and other water sports are available on the Coldwater chain of lakes and the Marble chain of lakes. Take your aquatic fun to the next level at The Aqua Pit, a family-owned water park with plenty of activities for the whole family, including paddle boarding, inflatables, volleyball, cornhole and more.
