Come explore the Fox Cities this spring, a beautiful region in east central Wisconsin comprised of urban communities and breathtaking natural surroundings. Perched on the shores of Lake Winnebago and the Fox River, the area is known for fostering a spirit of originality that makes every trip to the Fox Cities one-of-a-kind.
For outdoor recreation enthusiasts, an extensive network of paved trail options throughout the Fox Cities are the perfect way to enjoy the region’s natural beauty. Loop the Lake is a 3.2 mile paved, waterfront trail that connects 3 Fox Cities communities. Walk, run, bike, or even roller skate your way across 3 trestle bridges over Little Lake Butte des Morts. For a quick break, hop off the trail in downtown Neenah to explore the historic downtown filled with restaurants, coffee shops, and locally owned boutiques. Heckrodt Wetland Reserve is another fan favorite option for a large boardwalk trail system and an interactive outdoor learning scape called “The Wild Space.”
Panoramic views of Wisconsin’s largest inland lake, Lake Winnebago, can be found at High Cliff State Park. Walk along the beautiful limestone cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment that run throughout the park and make sure to hop on the Red Bird Trail to find the observation tower.
Bring out your inner artist at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass. At this free and kid-friendly attraction, you can view the world’s largest known collection of glass paperweights in addition to other beautiful and intricate glass art pieces. If you’re ready to try your hand at making your own piece, sign up for one of their family-friendly studio classes to make everything from a paperweight to keychains.
Round out an evening at the ballpark by taking in the action at a Wisconsin Timber Rattler Game. A minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Timber Rattlers are known for a slew of award-winning theme nights including Princess Night and TV Sitcom Night. For an extra special homestand, mark your calendars for June 22-24 when the Timber Rattlers transform into the Udder Tuggers, a nod to their home in the dairy state.
