Florida’s Adventure Coast offers great memories to be made outdoors, from the magic at Weeki Wachee Springs, to family-friendly activities like boating, fishing and kayaking.

1.     See the world-famous mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

For over seven decades, the mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs have captivated audiences with their daily underwater performances. This historic attraction also includes a river cruise, a native animal show, and Buccaneer Bay, Florida’s only spring-fed water park.

2.     Discover the new Mermaid Tale Trail driving tour

A trail consisting of 27 larger-than-life mermaid statues, each painted by a Floridian artist, the Mermaid Tale Trail was created to honor the 75th anniversary of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. Coming in 2023, visitors can download an itinerary and search for the beautiful mermaids located throughout Hernando County. 

3.     Paddle through Florida’s natural beauty 

Explore freshwater rives like Weeki Wachee or the wild Withlacoochee for great paddling, wildlife viewing and fun. For the avid kayaker, the scenic Bayport – Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail offers stunning views along our natural coastline not to be missed. Rent from one of our kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard outfitters, or join a guided tour.

4.     Dive and snorkel for bay scallops

Spend a day on and under the water while scallop diving, available during Scallop Season running July 1 to September 24 on Florida’s Adventure Coast. People of all ages enjoy this fun activity, with local scallop charters who will help you bag the fun and prepare your scallops for a delicious meal!

5.     Catch a Florida fishing memory

Along Florida’s Adventure Coast, anglers have an abundance of nearshore and offshore spots to explore. Local outfitters provide charters including deep-sea fishing in the gulf for grouper, cobia, and snapper, as well as flats fishing for tarpon, trout, and redfish.

6.     Go four-wheeling at Croom Motorcycle Area

Croom Motorcycle Area offers miles of trails for ATV and dirt bike riding, where new and experienced riders alike can experience an unforgettable off-road adventure. Don’t have an ATV? Fear not, our local vendors have everything you need.

7.     Zip through the treetops at FLG X Adventure Course – Tampa

Challenging and fun, FLG X offers four ropes courses set among a lush forest, with obstacles like wobbly bridges, rope swings, cargo nets and zip lines! Climbers at least nine years old can partake, while children ages 5-8 can enjoy the perfectly-sized Little Ninja Course at ground level.
